    DR. Elsie Oommen, completed her MD in Psychiatry from the prestigious Kasturba Medical College Manipal by winning the gold medal for the best outgoing student of the university. Currently she is working as Consultant Psychiatrist in Medical Trust Hospital Kochi . She has more than 20 years of experience in the field of Psychiatry.

    She is a member of Mental Health Review Board of the state which is a quasi judiciary system that regulates and monitors the functioning of mental health professionals and institutions. She is a faculty of Kerala Judicial Academy and is involved in enrichment programmes for Judges, Magistrates and principal counsellors of family, pocso and district courts She is a regular debater and give talks and classes in the media through satellite TV channels and you tube channels, various organisations including Cochin Port Trust, Tata Consultancy Services, Cochin Shipyard, Cochin collectorate, Cochin Refineries, various schools and colleges across the state on mental health literacy, substance abuse, mental health in women and children and old age. During the covid Pandemic and lock down she was delivering messages through a popular Malayalam Channel on daily basis for 360 days. She was an instrumental in mental health education and training classes for the police force of the district covering nearly 53 police stations . She has various publications in magazines and other print media regarding mental health issues.

    She covered more than 1250 programmes in TV channels, nearly 750 Orations for organizations institutions, schools and colleges and more than 50 radio programmes, on Mental health and related issues.
